Día 5 A song to match your mood

So I am a tad bit behind on the 30 day blog...so lets just call it the next 30 blogs.  lol. I jumped back into a full-time summer job in MD and have been quite busy with this transition back to the states.  Trying to figure out my next steps while patiently waiting on the Lord to continue to reveal His will for my life.  Transitions are tough and I have been experiencing some emotional highs and lows.

I am a recovering Type A personality, so being in control and understanding every moment of every minute of every hour of my life is important to me. As a result of all of these changes and the need to make decisions I felt myself slipping back into Captain Jettie mode (I'm your hero!).

I know where that road can lead, so I decided to confide in a friend about this struggle.  She listened to my concerns, asked questions that challenged me, encouraged me…and most importantly pointed me to the cross.  The following day I met up with a good friend and we had personal devotion about faith and trusting in God. Today after bible study a sister told me to lean not on my understanding but to trust in the Lord. Literally 10 minutes later a friend texted me to read Proverbs 3:5-6 and i look on facebook and another friend posted an encouraging video.

So in a nutshell this video describes my mood. Last night I felt like my prayers were ricocheting off  of the walls in my room. I couldn't hear Gods voice. Yet today I am so thankful that God has reminded me that I must Trust in Him with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding; in all my ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs 3:5-6 )

Day 4: Su Primer Amor/ Your First Love

My first love... was a pair of patent leather tap shoes.  The year was 1988 and my loving uncle brought me a my first dance shoes. My family lived in Norfolk, Va in  Pine Wood Gardens Apartments on the 2nd floor. The entire apartment was carpeted except for a small wooden section by the door way.  As soon as I woke up I would put the shoes on and tap my little heart out.  I even wore them to bed.

2 Dia : El Significado de su nombre de blog/The meaning of your blog name

Siempre Pensando....Always Thinking.  My mom has always taught me to think before I speak... so I think alot. Sometimes I'm in my own little Jettie bubble. I decided to put my thoughts on a wall for everyone to see.  Mi madre me enseno a pensar antes de hablar...entonces yo pienso mucho.  A veces yo estoy en mi propio mundo. Pues, decidi a escribir mis pensamientos en una pared para que el mundo vea.

Chacho!!

¡Chacho! Yo estoy despierta a esta hora (roosters are crowing). Mi palabra nueva es : Chacho ( idk if i spelled it correctly).

Chacho! I'm up at this hour. My new word is:Chacho (idk if i Spell It Correctly). I'm not surehow to translate the English word but I can use it in the correct context. Things are changing in my life. I'm not sure where I'll be in the future, and I have a little fear. However, my confidence that Iam in the will of God helps me to be sure thateverything will go well. I finished volunteering at the elementary school in Carolina.  But I'm a bit sad that I didn't fulfill my initial purpose for being in the school.  However, the good news is that God had other plans and those were fulfilled. Most of the time I was either confused or simply forgot things (my memory is not supergood Spanish.) Last week I had a super goodtime with my friend from Washington, DC.  We went to the Museums, the beach, the movies, and tourist sites. We also went kayaking and almost drowned after being hit by 15 ft waves ( i may be exaggerating about the size of the waves but it was pretty scary). I hope she enjoyed her time here on the island (despite the fact she almost lost her life) ... because I enjoyed our time together.Tomorrow two of my other friends are coming for a visit. I am also  going to the graduation ceremony for the class of 2011 from the elementary school where I tutored. I was lucky to receive an invitation from a parent (I'm super super super excited). Lastly, my health has not been well.  I'm believing in God for my healing, so please keep me in  your prayers.

SN: There is so much healing in talking. I  had a great conversation with a good friend.  She put a lot of things I have been thinking about lately (pre-Howard, Howard, & post- Howard years) into perspective. It always amazes me how I used to think that others were so perfect and that they have it together.  I realize we just don't talk about the mess or the secret moments in our lives.  Since facebook used to consume most of my online time (i'm a recovering fbook addict so I limit myself to once a day vs. every 5 minutes)... I had to constantly remind myself that peoples lives are made up of more than the 100+ photos they post, their status updates, and the locations they check in to.

Life can be challenging. I've been privy to learn that  Education, Job Status, Money, Relationship Status, People Pleasing, Shoes, Friends Lists, VIP lines, Other's opinions, Marlboro Lights, &  double shots of Goose don't fulfill you.  True intimacy with Christ is where I have found my purpose and joy.  Tonight I'm feeling thankful for the amazing people I love & who love me. Thanks to my friend  sister for her wisdom, strength, courage, and unconditional love.  A lot of people don't get it... but she does.

Yo Puedo Hablar Español!!

So…. It finally hit me the other day. I  CAN SPEAK SPANISH!!!!  I’m super excited and still have a lot more to learn before I can call myself bilingual.  This blog entry is going to be in English because I spent most of my weekend speaking in Spanish and my brain is fried!

New Things:
I moved into the new apartment in February. It’s very comfy & cozy.   I’ve decided to purchase a guitar & to bum guitar lessons from some of my artsy friends on the island. So far, I’ve had 2 lessons. I know how to play  ‘twinkle twinkle little star’ & I can read music from a sheet.

Top 5 reasons I really love my life:

1.       Two friends and I are co-facilitating a small group for 20’s something women! We will be meeting once a week to encourage each other in our walks with Christ & to support each other during this season of transition!

2.      Three of my really good friends will be visiting Puerto Rico this month. 1 comes today and 2 come at the end of the month.

3.  God is always working on my heart (which can be frustrating at times, but I know he has my best interest at heart) and I have noticed some growth in areas that I have struggled with over the past couple of years. I am very thankful for this. Someone who has really helped me grow while in Puerto Rico is my friend Lindsay. She leaves the island tomorrow for Young Life Wilderness camp and I'm going to miss her dearly.

4.    I get to hang out with kids everyday.

5.  My Spanish is improving... so I'll be coming home soon. (The thought of leaving this place...)

Only 8 days left until the big move. These last 2 weeks of my life have been quite hectic. I have a new job, joined a small group bible study, work as a tutor in the morning, and I am also volunteering at a community based organization as a English instructor!  On one of my days off I had the privilege to spend some great quality time with a friend whom I truly love.  Here are some photos from our QT:

We went to the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico & hung out in the sculpture garden.  On our way captured some pretty cool photos of graffiti and some animals.
